Australian Vintage Plastic Kitchenware – Start Collecting now for less than $1
You too can have a collection of Vintage Plastics in your home.
Its easy as 1, 2, 3
- Get educated: Don’t start from scratch… search on-line… read my article Bakelite Canisters and Bessemer Plates: Vintage Australian Plastic Makers
- Go in search of treasure: In your own cupboard… in op shops… at trash and treasure markets…
- Refine your collection: Decide which items you love… what sets have you got or nearly got… sell or swap the items you don’t love for those you do.
After I got some knowledge of Aussie brands to watch out for, I went back through my cupboards and found several more vintage plastic items that I did not realise were Aussie Vintage. Like this tray and lunch boxes. In my mums cupboard I found this scoop and canister.

Tilley Drinks Tray

British Plastic Lunch/Picnic Boxes

Sellex Scoop

Sellex Canister
Visit your local op shops and have a look through that utensil box under the bench and through that big crate of plastic in the corner. You will be surprised what vintage plastic kitchenware you can find. I found these four great items at op shops for $1 or less.

British Plastics Plate

British Plastics Vegie Drainer

Marquis Measuring Cup

Duperite Scoop
Flea Market Finds or Trash and Treasure Market Finds are my favorite bargains. I love the variety, the jumble, the walking and the chatting. If the seller doesn’t appreciate what they have, and I do, then I feel the most satisfaction in giving the item a new home and making sure it does not end up in land-fill. Look at some of the vintage plastic kitchenware items I found at markets in the last year.

Associated Plastics Beaker

Bessemer Wheat Plate

Bessemer Jug & Sugar Bowl

Hostess Ware Snack Tray
