Mikasa Duplex Eldora Vegetable Bowl designed by Ben Siebel and released in 1971. Made in Japan pattern #2508.

Mikasa is the brand, Duplex is the shape and Eldora is the pattern.  Complementary plain yellow and brown (and other block colored) pieces were made to go with this and other Duplex patterns (see last image).

This item is ovenproof and detergent safe and in excellent condition.

Mikasa started in the 1930s in New Jersey America as an international trading Company.  The company looked to Japan for inspiration and was named in honor of Prince Mikasa , the youngest brother of Emperor Hirohito of Japan.   They import tableware from Japan, Ireland, England, France and Germany.  They are still operating today.

Ben Seibel (1918-1985) was born in New Jersey USA and studied architecture and industrial design. He set up his own studio with a small staff and designed dinnerware, glassware, stainless steel flatware, metal and wood tabletop accessories, furniture and lamps.

He was prolific, producing designs for dinnerware for Mikasa and Iroquois, glassware for Duncan Miller and Fostoria, furniture and accessories for Gilley, and stoneware items for Haegar.
