Description
Florenz Bottle. This hand thrown drip glazed earthenware bottle with earthenware cork was made by Florenz Australia in the 1970s.
The bottle and the cork are in excellent condition.
Dark brown glossy glaze drips down over the shoulders of the bottle on to the rougher brown glaze underneath.
This piece looks very colonial but was made during the functional modernist 1970s when almost everything was reinvented in brown.
Size: 205mm tall x 93mm in diameter
Weight: 740g
Florenz was started in 1934 by Florence Williams and she produced gum nut and other art ware pieces until 1948. The company was sold to HAP Insulators and produced slip ware and wheel thrown earthenware until 1980.
